Die steel is a type of high-strength, hard steel used to make tools and machine parts. It's made by adding special alloys to high carbon steel, and is also known as tool steel. Die steel is used to make dies for metalworking operations such as forging, rolling, extrusion, and wire drawing. 

Die steel is designed to be strong, tough, and wear resistant at room temperature and at higher temperatures. It's formed in one piece with a mold and then hardened. 

Some common die steel grades include O1 and O2. Die steel is available in different shapes, such as flats, squares, and round bars.
