Naval Brass C46400 is nominally composed of 60% copper, 39.2% zinc, and 0.8% tin. As is typical of brass alloys with the duplex alpha + beta structure, C46400 has good strength and rigidity. By substituting tin for an equal quantity of zinc, a high corrosion resistance to seawater is achieved.

Naval Brass is a 60:40 copper zinc alloy to which about 1% of tin has been added to improve the corrosion resistance, particularly to dezincification. The alloy is a two phase alpha-beta brass, hence has reasonably high strength with lower ductility, this alloy is suitable for Hot forging, pressing and machining.

The UNS C48500 copper alloy is a high-leaded naval brass alloy with good corrosion resistance, hot forgeability and free-cutting properties. The following datasheet provides an overview of the UNS C48500 high level leaded brass copper alloy.
